How To Make Your Reservation


The only way to make a reservation for SOAR is for your student to go online using UNCGenie. Students are responsible for making reservations for themselves and their guests to attend SOAR. Your student will need his or her student identification number and PIN. (For help with your student ID number, visit the IT Web site.)

When your student is ready with his or her student identification number and PIN, here’s what you need to do with your student:

  • Go to the UNCG home page and locate UNCGenie in the upper right hand corner.
  • Click on UNCGenie and enter your Student ID and PIN provided to you by Admissions.
  • Click on “Student Services and Financial Aid.”
  • Click on the last option, “Spartan Orientation, Advising & Registration (SOAR).”
  • Follow the instructions on that page.
  • Please be sure to follow all instructions. If you exit the SOAR Reservation system before the "Save Reservation" option at the end, your reservation will not be saved!

Important Information …

  • SOAR is required for all incoming freshman, transfer and adult students.
  • Make your reservation as soon as possible. Each SOAR session has a limited number of spaces and they fill up quickly. Please note that we cannot take waiting lists for sessions.
  • If a session does not appear as an available option in the SOAR Reservation system, it means that session is full.
  • Reservations for each session will close 5 business days before the event begins.
  • Remember that your student must make his or her reservation first and then make reservations for any adult family members who are interested in attending with you.

Confirmation of Online Reservations


Once you have successfully completed your SOAR reservation, watch for a confirmation email on your UNCG e-Spartan account — we cannot send student reservation confirmations to other email providers, such as Hotmail or Yahoo. We highly recommend providing an email address for each guest so that they can also receive confirmation notification as well. (Guest email addresses can be non-UNCG email providers; business email addresses are preferred over general hosts such as Hotmail or Yahoo.)
