Schedule At-a-Glance

SOAR is a 2-day program, filled with an exciting variety of information sessions, interactive programs, and time to complete tasks necessary to inform you about your student's college experience and help your student begin his or her first semester at UNCG.

Below is a schedule-at-a-glance to give you an idea of what your days will be like at SOAR. A full schedule with more detail will be provided at SOAR check-in.

For those of you travelling from a distance, please note the beginning and ending times and plan accordingly.

On day 1 of each SOAR session, we begin check-in at 8:30am. Our shuttle from the parking deck to the check-in site will begin at 8:00am. If you are driving from several hours away or flying to Greensboro, you might want to arrive the night before and stay at a local hotel.

Our program runs until 4:30pm on day 2. Course advising and registration occur in the early afternoon of day 2 and cannot be done earlier for any reason. Therefore, if you are flying into Greensboro, we advise you to make return flight reservations for early evening on day 2 (based on leaving campus by 5:00pm, arriving at PTI by 5:30pm and leaving one hour prior to your departure) or the following day.

When you arrive on campus for your reserved SOAR session, park in the Walker Avenue Parking Deck. Take all your overnight belongings and proceed to the SOAR shuttle waiting just outside the deck. The SOAR shuttle will take you to both the student and parent/family check-in sites. At check-in, you will receive your SOAR materials and your room key so that you can place your belongings in your room. For those parents/family members not staying overnight on-campus, you will still need to take the shuttle to SOAR check-in to receive your materials.

Parent/Family SOAR - Day 1

8:00am	SOAR Shuttle will be available for transportation from Walker Avenue Parking Deck to check-in and back. The last shuttle will leave the Walker Avenue Parking Deck at 9:55am.
8:30am - 10:00am	Check-in
8:30am - 5:30pm	Grab lunch and enjoy a variety of sessions and tours, such as: Parent/Family Welcome from the Dean of Students Parent Family Association and Parent Resources Campus Tours Residence Hall Tours: Model Rooms Campus Recreation Center Tours Welcome Sessions by Academic Unit Top 10 Tips for Academic Success Let's Get SOARing Advising Expectations
5:45pm - 8:00pm	Enjoy Dinner, SOS Panel Q&A and a Dessert Reception!

Parent/Family SOAR - Day 2

6:30am-8:00am	Take advantage of the Campus Recreation Center available to SOAR families
7:00am-8:15am	Families staying on-campus will check-out of the residence hall and take SOAR Shuttle to the Elliott University Center Enjoy breakfast which is provided to all SOAR families and students
8:30am - 4:30pm	Attend detailed sessions with Q&A, such as: UNCG Police Department Student Health Services, Counseling Center and Wellness Career Services Studying Abroad Disability Services Financial Aid Living on Campus Commuting to Campus Cashiers and Students Accounts Computing Services Spartan EXPO
4:00pm - 8:00pm	Take advantage of the Campus Recreation Center available to SOAR families
