Freshman SOAR Fee Information for Parents and Family

What is the SOAR fee for Parents and Family?

SOAR Program fee for the August Parents and Family Program: $25.00 per guest

The August Parent/Family SOAR program is a one-day program held on Thursday, August 21. The SOAR program for students is a two-day program held Thursday and Friday, August 21-22. It is required that students attend both days of SOAR and parents will be unable to accompany students on Friday.

If overnight accomodations are needed, please visit our list of  local accomodations. We do not offer on-campus housing for families during our August SOAR program.

How do I pay my Parent/Family SOAR fee?

Payment Policy

All Guest fees for SOAR are required in advance. Payments must be received in our office before your SOAR session. If you mail your payment, we recommend that you mail atleast three weeks in advance. Any payments not received in our office by your SOAR session must be paid at check-in and a late fee may apply. We cannot accomodate payment by credit card at check-in.

Online credit card payments are preferred for guests and you may make those payments through the SOAR reservation system. However, checks and money orders are accepted, made payable to “UNCG Orientation & Family Programs”, and sent to:

How do I cancel my SOAR reservation?

Cancellation Policy

Please select your SOAR session carefully. If you must cancel your reservation completely, please log in to UNCGenie and cancel your reservation no less than 5 business days prior to your session. Once you have cancelled your reservation through the online reservation system, please contact our office at 336-334-5231 to complete your refund request. We cannot cancel your reservation for you.

If you paid by credit card, please have your credit card number ready. Please allow 4-6 weeks for your credit to show up on your credit card statement.

If you paid by check, your refund will be mailed to the address in the reservation system unless otherwise stated when you call. Please allow 4-6 weeks for processing.

SOAR fees for the Parent/Family program will NOT be refunded if cancellations are not made through the reservation system 5 business days prior to the session. After 5 business days, the SOAR session becomes inactive and no changes or cancellations can be made to that session. There are no refunds or waivers for the mandatory New Student Fee.
