Parent and Family Transfer & Adult SOAR Fall 2009
When are the August 2009 SOAR Dates for the Parent and Family Transfer & Adult Program?
At UNCG, we recognize that families are also in transition when students begin college. An orientation to campus life at UNCG is important to help families support their students through the various changes and experiences they will encounter. Although students need to make their own decisions, they also need support. We offer a complete SOAR program designed especially for parents and adult family members. To address questions and concerns, families will be able to talk with current UNCG students, faculty, and staff. Family members will also learn about the many services and opportunities available at UNCG and how they can assist their students in making a successful transition to college life and UNCG.
The Fall admitted Transfer/Adult SOAR dates for 2009 are listed below. SOAR is required for all incoming students.

We do not provide overnight accommodations for the SOAR program during the Transfer/Adult session. Students may chose to stay in your residence hall, local residence or at a local hotel. Parents and Family members attending the SOAR program may chose from one of the local hotels offering SOAR discounts.
For information about residence hall move-in, go to the Housing and Residence Life Web site. If you have questions or concerns about your move-in date, please contact Houseing and Residence Life.
Young Children and Friends
The transition to college is an exciting time for the entire family; however, we recommend that young children do not attend. Our program is not designed to accommodate the unique needs and interests of younger people. If children must accompany family members during SOAR, please note that each guest must pay the $25 guest fee, regardless of age.
